Interview with the amazing couple:

HOW DID YOU MEET? They first met at a job interview. Kate interviewed Charles and hired him. But they didn’t become friends until 3 years later when they flew together and were up all night talking at Steak and Shake.
WHAT ATTRACTED YOU THE MOST TO YOUR HUSBAND/WIFE?
Charles: She’s a philosophical thinker and has a great ass. She’s my best friend.
Kate: He’s generous and thoughtful, smart and fun. He’s my best friend.
HOW DID HE PROPOSE? Charles proposed at Disney’s Magic Kingdom. The sun went down and the lights came up on the castle. He took Kate to a great spot where people stand to take pictures in front of the castle. Charles told the photographers what he was about to do so they were ready. With the parade about to start, there were a lot of people standing around. He asked, she screamed, and they all turned to watch!
WHAT INSPIRED YOUR VISION FOR YOUR WEDDING? There really wasn’t a thought out vision. We chose things that represented us as individuals and as a couple. We also tried to maintain a simple, elegant feel for the wedding.
TELL US ABOUT FINDING YOUR VENUE: Once Charles proposed at Disney, it was always on the table as a possible venue. Some other places we considered were an aquarium, because we’re both SCUBA divers, and an airplane hanger. We decided on Disney because in addition to traveling to a wedding we wanted to give our guests a vacation too!
WHAT WAS YOUR BIGGEST PLANNING CHALLENGE? Family. They are there to love you and support you and also to give you their wonderful and unique opinions. Sometimes given more forcefully than I would have liked.
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE DESIGN ELEMENT OF YOUR WEDDING? Loved our center pieces and my personal bouquet. I’d like to say the cocktail hour centerpiece, because that was the most anticipated, but I have yet to see it.
DID YOU HAVE ANY DIY DETAILS? Not being a crafty person, I took on way more DIY projects than I should have. Thanks to the help of some awesome girls, I got them all done! I’m really glad I had most everything else done by the experts. They did them much better than I ever could have!
WHAT WAS THE MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT OF YOUR WEDDING DAY? That with all the drama leading up to the wedding, the most memorable moment was that the wedding day was perfect. There were some highlights: The kissing stool, the anniversary dance, the 1st dance, and the caricatures and going back to the amazing hotel room!
DESCRIBE YOUR CAKE: We had three flavors of cake: Chocolate cake with Mint chocolate filing, almond cake with amaretto filling and fresh raspberries and yellow cake with milk chocolate filling and fresh strawberries. I didn’t get to try the last flavor because SOMEONE, I won’t say who, (cough cough husband cough cough) ate the whole piece!
HOW WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER? Amazing! Loved them both! They kept us relaxed and it shows they love what they do. There were many comments made by guests after the wedding about how wonderful, friendly, organized they were yet the whole time they were like ghosts and stayed out of the way. Y’all were so great to work with!
WHAT’S NEXT FOR YOU AND YOUR HUSBAND AS A COUPLE? Lots of SCUBA diving!

So excited to share this shoot with everyone! Photographing Kate + Brian was awesome – cute outfits, great props…and Kate has absolutely no idea just how amazingly beautiful she is! (And yes, we did notice that Brian is very handsome too!)

Michelle + Josh may look familiar. We had the extreme honor of photographing their GORGEOUS wedding in North Carolina earlier this year. When Michelle asked if we could come to her familiy’s 130 acre property in the Blue Ridge Mountains, we jumped at the opportunity! We stayed in her amazingly-generous parent’s home for a few nights…took some photos, drank some wine, made some friends 🙂
