Interview with our adorable couple, Patti + Shawn:
HOW DID YOU MEET? Long story as short as I can make it, Shawn and I both worked second jobs at a night club. I was the DJ and he was the bouncer. He had asked me out a couple times but I really didn’t want to be the girl that meets a guy at a bar. Later, a mutual friend said that he had a softball team and needed a girl to play. Being that I love playing ball, I went up and told him I would play. At our first game together, Shawn was completely charming and I’m pretty sure we have been inseparable since.
WHAT ATTRACTED YOU THE MOST TO YOUR HUSBAND/WIFE?
Patti: Besides having eyes I could lose myself looking into, and lips I can’t help but want to kiss… he is the kindest most loving soul I have met.
Shawn: I thought she was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. I would sit at the door and watch this gorgeous woman with such beauty and confidence walk by me every night, I knew she had to be mine.
HOW DID HE PROPOSE? We came down to Florida (we live in Ohio) to spend Mother’s Day with my mommy. That morning we went for a walk on the beach and as we got to the end he got on his knee and asked me. It was so beautiful.
WHAT INSPIRED YOUR VISION FOR YOUR WEDDING? We always knew we wanted to be married on the beach and just have our immediate family and our best friends. As for the look…. We didn’t want to compromise classiness but wanted everyone to feel relaxed and comfortable. We tried to have a laid back vibe with a lot of color, and of course the ocean as the backdrop.
TELL US ABOUT FINDING YOUR VENUE: Well, being from Ohio made that kind of difficult. After changing locations multiple times we found Sand on the Beach and knew it was the place for our vision.
WHAT WAS YOUR BIGGEST PLANNING CHALLENGE? What wasn’t a challenge? We had to postpone the wedding due to a family emergency, vendors had to be changed, and I lived 18 hours away! All I can say is thank God for my mother and our wedding planner Susan Coggins of Wedding Belles! I would have never been able to do this without them!!!
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE DESIGN ELEMENT OF YOUR WEDDING? The ceremony set up for sure. When I walked down the aisle it was everything I had always dreamed it would be.
DID YOU HAVE ANY DIY DETAILS? I made passport invitations with boarding pass R.S.V.Ps and luggage tag Save the Date magnets. It took my best friend Morgan and I forever to get them all together but they were defiantly a hit.
WHAT WAS THE MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT OF YOUR WEDDING DAY? Right before I walked down the aisle, seeing my daddy look at me and smile and then my eyes met with Shawn’s. It gave me a feeling of such overwhelming gratitude and calmness that no words could give it justice.
DESCRIBE YOUR CAKE: Delicious! LOL…. It was vanilla with raspberry filling. Oleander Bakery did an amazing job of making it beautiful!
HOW WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER? Completely AMAZING! We had so much fun taking pictures and the ones we have seen so far are gorgeous! They made us feel like we were celebrities. The Trash the Dress session was by far the highlight for both of us. The wedding day happened so fast and there was so much to do that we didn’t get time to really spend with together. For our Trash the Dress session, we had so much fun and really got to enjoy each other!
WHAT’S NEXT FOR YOU AND YOUR HUSBAND AS A COUPLE? Getting back to normal life. Then hopefully somewhere in the future giving my mom the grandbabies she has been asking for! 😉

Interview with the AMAZING Allison + Sean:
HOW DID YOU MEET? At work! We were both new engineers and new to the area, we shared a common interest in live music and the beach. We work in the same office to this day.
WHAT ATTRACTED YOU THE MOST TO YOUR HUSBAND/WIFE?
Allison: he was very cute, smart, kind, and super fun to hang out with.
Sean: Her sweet and fun-loving personality… Oh yeah, and the blonde hair!
HOW DID HE PROPOSE? We were both visiting our families during Thanksgiving and Sean suggested getting everyone together for lunch that saturday. The day of he calls to suggest the two of us meet up before hand since we haven’t seen each other in a few days. Once we were together Sean got down on one knee and proposed! Then we made the announcement to the families at lunch and celebrated afterwards!
WHAT INSPIRED YOUR VISION FOR YOUR WEDDING? We wanted a wedding by the beach with live music, great food and a big party.
TELL US ABOUT FINDING YOUR VENUE: We searched for months to find the perfect spot. We knew we wanted the ceremony outdoors. After seeing a couple of weddings in Ryckman Park, we were sold. For the reception, we wanted a pretty ballroom on the barrier island and looked at every spot imaginable between Cocoa Beach and Melbourne Beach. Finally we found the Cocoa Beach Country Club. The venue was flexible and we really liked the high ceilings, stage, privacy, and various rooms to use for the reception and cocktail hour.
WHAT WAS YOUR BIGGEST PLANNING CHALLENGE? Finding the right reception venue was the biggest challenge. After that it was staying within our budget. All things considered, the planning was very smoothe (Hire a wedding planner everybody!)
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE DESIGN ELEMENT OF YOUR WEDDING? The invitations! We worked with Sean’s brother Eddie and our friend Dana, two talented artists. They helped create a fun illustration of Sean and I on the beach with our pets and lots of personal details. For the day of, the bamboo arch couldn’t have been better.
DID YOU HAVE ANY DIY DETAILS? We made the table numbers and table number stands. We were really excited about the table numbers; we spent a morning driving all over looking for local and beachy number inspiration (Eleven was made out of flip flops, Thirteen was entirely Sean’s surfboards). The stands were a pinterest find- made out of corks, which was a tie-in to one of our honeymoon destinations, Napa!
WHAT WAS THE MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT OF YOUR WEDDING DAY? It’s hard to just pick one! For me it was seeing each other at the first look, getting ready with all the girls, and celebrating with our favorite people afterwards!
DESCRIBE YOUR CAKE: Our cake was a vanilla wedding cake with butter cream frosting and chocolate toffee ganache filling.
HOW WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER? Awesome! Finding Concept was the first thing we did as far as wedding planning, we had no doubt the pictures would turn out amazing. They were really laid back and easy to work with, they gave us great direction and found great spots to take pictures! We’ve had multiple comments that our Engagement pictures were the best some people had ever seen, and we have no doubt that we’ll feel the same about the wedding pics.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR YOU AND YOUR HUSBAND AS A COUPLE? We just returned from a fabulous two week honeymoon to Napa and Hawaii. Now we are settling into married life in our new home. We’re working on planning the next big adventure.
