Interview with our lovely couple, Erica + Chris:
HOW DID YOU MEET?
Both: We met at a recruiting work event. Erica was a recruiter for the accounting firm Chris works for. We ran into each other a few different times before going on our first date.
WHAT ATTRACTED YOU THE MOST TO YOUR HUSBAND/WIFE?
Erica: He is a handsome man with a kind heart. He always listened when we had a first few dates.
Chris: She is a kind and generous person who is always willing to help others. We also share common values and views.
HOW DID HE PROPOSE?
Erica: We had a staycation in Dallas to celebrate our one year anniversary. He proposed the minute we walked into the hotel room. He was so nervous but I wouldn’t have had it any other way.
WHAT INSPIRED YOUR VISION FOR YOUR WEDDING?
Erica: I wanted something classy, elegant, clean and beautiful. Over the years I had pictured up ideas and inspiration from friend’s weddings. I knew exactly what I did and did not want!
TELL US ABOUT FINDING YOUR VENUE:
Erica: My parents live in PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens and we love visiting. We thought it was a great destination for people to come enjoy golf, the beach, and really make a weekend out of it. Planning also gave us more excuses to get back to Florida.
WHAT WAS YOUR BIGGEST PLANNING CHALLENGE?
Erica: The distance definitely made the details harder to plan. We had to use skype, the phone, email, etc. I was afraid some of my ideas were getting lost in translation. Some days we definitely wished we were getting married in Dallas.
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE DESIGN ELEMENT OF YOUR WEDDING?
Erica: I just loved how everything came together. The florists did an amazing job executing my vision.
DID YOU HAVE ANY DIY DETAILS?
Erica: I am not the best DIY-er. I would leave that to the other brides. ☺
WHAT WAS THE MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT OF YOUR WEDDING DAY?
Erica: Enjoying the day with Chris. I felt like we could finally enjoy and have fun. It had been a long year! I also loved seeing our family and friends come from all over the US. I have never felt so loved and I am grateful for all of them.
Chris: The first time we saw one another. There was a lot of excitement and angst leading up to the wedding, but at that moment it seemed to be alleviated and made all the planning completely worth it.
DESCRIBE YOUR CAKE:
Erica: We had two cakes. Our wedding cake was ivory with gold succulents and white and blush flowers. The cake had two designs which alternated. It was yummy although hard to cut into! We also had a groom’s cake that looked like a bowling lane with a large chocolate bowling ball, a Jayhawk (University of Kansas’s mascot) and bowling pins. Chris was a collegiate bowler so this was a surprise to him. I think my favorite part was eating it with a fork towards the end of the night!
HOW WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER?
Erica: Sara and Jason came highly recommended from a friend of mine and we could not have been more pleased. We skyped with them towards the beginning of the planning process and we felt so at ease. The day of the wedding they made us feel comfortable and made the process fun. The bridal party could not stop talking about how great they were either. I would recommend them to any couple and hopefully can use them again in the future!
Chris: Sara and Jason made the process very easy and comfortable. On a day with so many things to do, it was nice to be able to trust their judgment and listen to their guidance and that made the whole picture process very enjoyable.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR YOU AND YOUR HUSBAND AS A COUPLE?
Erica: We have had a busy past year. I am looking forward to enjoying our time together and starting our next chapter.

You may recognize Patti + Shawn from their colorful and fun destination wedding we featured a few weeks ago. Well, a few days after their wedding, we met back up for some REAL fun! One gorgeous sunset and 3 wedding dresses later, we were all a little wet and had huge smiles on our faces!
