Interview with our lovely bride, Amy:
HOW DID YOU MEET? We first met in New York City in 2003 and went on a few dates. However, we were very involved with our careers at the time and never pursued it further. I moved back to Florida in 2008 to be closer to my family. One day, Eric was in Orlando for work and emailed me to see if I was free for dinner. Unfortunately, I had other plans. Luckily, my plans got canceled at the last minute and I was able to join Eric for dinner. We had a wonderful time together and we remembered how much we had in common with each other. We didn’t want the conversation to end. When Eric went back to New York we missed each other very much and spoke every day. Eric and I would visit each other in Florida and New York, along with some other wonderful trips in between. We did a long distance relationship for over 2.5 years! In August, I moved back to New York, and made Eric the happiest man in the world.
WHAT ATTRACTED YOU THE MOST TO YOUR HUSBAND? We have a lot in common and we can be our self around each other. Eric has a heart of gold and he is the kindest most loving guy I could ever meet.
HOW DID HE PROPOSE? We were in Aruba it was our last night and Eric surprised me with dinner on the beach. It was very romantic.
WHAT INSPIRED YOUR VISION FOR YOUR WEDDING? I wanted a classic and elegant look with a lot of great details. Eric wanted to make sure I was always happy had a smile on my face.
TELL US ABOUT FINDING YOUR VENUE: We wanted a venue with wonderful food and service. When we came across the Interlachen Country Club it was perfect!
WHAT WAS YOUR BIGGEST PLANNING CHALLENGE? Planning from out of town was challenging. It was a lot of skype conversations and phone calls. But everything came together and was perfect!
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE DESIGN ELEMENT OF YOUR WEDDING? Everything! I love all the little details and special touches. Everything stayed within our theme of navy and color with accents of stripes and polka dots.
DID YOU HAVE ANY DIY DETAILS? Yes, a lot. This was one of my favorite parts of planning the wedding! Where do I begin? The goody bags were filled with homemade white chocolate dipped marshmallows, smores, coconut peanut butter balls, trail mix, and a Florida orange. Everything had a sticker of our AE logo. Our place cards were sugar cookies with the table numbers also accented with striped paper. Our signature drink “Happily Ever After” kept with the theme coral and navy. During cocktail hour the servers had a monogram navy napkin describing the appetizers. We had a words of advice book each page with a different theme. For dessert we had Amy and Eric’s ice bar. Lastly, our party favor went beyond the classic black & white cookie. We had a custom navy and white cookie boxed with our A&E logo wrapped with grosgrain ribbon. And thanks to my sister for customizing our wedding invitations, save the dates, wedding programs, tables numbers and etc. She did everything and many nights saw the sunrise to make sure it all perfect, we are very grateful for Jennifer.
WHAT WAS THE MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT OF YOUR WEDDING DAY? Our wedding day was perfect and was made so much more memorable because of all of our family and friends. We are very lucky to be surrounded by them as we begin our life together.
DESCRIBE YOUR CAKE: Delicious!! Amaretto cake with vanilla bean buttercream and raspberry filling; navy and white stripes accented with coral sugar flowers.
HOW WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER? They were both amazing they went above and beyond! Once I stumbled upon their blog and amazing photos I knew immediately that I wanted them to capture our special day. They are very talented.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR YOU AND YOUR HUSBAND AS A COUPLE? Our honeymoon in Anguilla and Virgin Gorda, followed by a happily ever after.
