Renee + James / Lovely Parkland, FL Wedding

Interview with the wonderful Renee + James:
HOW DID YOU MEET? James and I met at a 4th of July party when I was only 16! A mutual friend thought we would make a great couple and he was right!
WHAT ATTRACTED YOU THE MOST TO YOUR HUSBAND/WIFE?
James’ sense of humor and smile attracted me most.
Renee’s beautiful eyes
HOW DID HE PROPOSE? After spending the weekend in Key West over New Year’s 2011, James wanted to see one last sunset before we went home. I was ready to drive home to see our dog, but he insisted on taking a walk down to the water. He got down on one knee and I was so surprised I hit the ring out of his hand and it almost flew into the water! Luckily he found it and asked me to marry him again.
WHAT INSPIRED YOUR VISION FOR YOUR WEDDING? I found a lot of handmade, original sources on Etsy – we found our cake toppers, our shoes, bridesmaid and groomsmen gifts, the ring bearer’s pillow, and favors there.
TELL US ABOUT FINDING YOUR VENUE: Parkland Golf and Country Club is beautiful, we were drawn to the way the building and landscaping would look when our guests drove up, as well as to the fountain and courtyard overlooking the golf course.
WHAT WAS YOUR BIGGEST PLANNING CHALLENGE? It was really tough for us to pare down the guest list to stay within our budget while still including everyone we wanted to share our special day with.
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE DESIGN ELEMENT OF YOUR WEDDING? My bling! I love anything sparkly so I tried to incorporate rhinestones throughout the wedding – on my dress, on my and my daughter’s shoes, our cake, our flowers and centerpieces, my veil and my headpiece, and even my mom’s dress.
DID YOU HAVE ANY DIY DETAILS? Not at the wedding, but my bridal shower was all handmade by my wonderful sister!
WHAT WAS THE MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT OF YOUR WEDDING DAY?
Renee – Our first dance as husband and wife, and the father-daughter dance, where me, my dad and my daughter all danced together.
James – The moment I saw Renee walking towards me down the isle, she looked so beautiful!
DESCRIBE YOUR CAKE: Our cake was the best cake I’ve ever eaten! – it was a 3 tier lemon-raspberry with white icing, a royal blue fondant ribbon on the front, it also had a strip of rhinestones around each layer.
HOW WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER? AMAZING!!!! They were so fun to work with, gave us great direction when we weren’t sure how to pose but also stood back and captured the important moments of our wedding as we experienced them!
WHAT’S NEXT FOR YOU AND YOUR HUSBAND AS A COUPLE? Enjoying watching our daughter grow up, buying a house and expanding our family.
