The only thing more beautiful than springtime in Virginia, is a couple this in love. We can’t wait to return to Roanoke in December to photograph Allison + Travis’s wedding!

Interview with our new friends Heather + Jon:
How did the two of you meet? Meeting Jon was completely unexpected. I had committed to fishing with my brother prior to a tournament he was in and the same week I closed on a house. So needless to say, there was a little craziness occurring but I wasn’t going to miss the weekend with my brother. Meeting someone was not on the list, but my older brother, after first tournament day, wanted to show me one of the tournament fisherman’s boat. We walked over with my niece and nephew in hand and there was Jon, pleasant as can be. He introduced himself, turned on Little Nemo (the movie) for the kids and talked with my brother about the boat and tournament. He asked me out on a date shortly after and the rest is history 🙂
What attracted you to your husband? His rugged handsomeness, kind smile, and his ability to love like no other.
What attracted you to your wife? How pretty she was, how vibrant she was and her love for life.
How did Jon propose? Our engagement was at a weekend getaway to St. Augustine. Filled with happy tears, champagne, celebrating, and words I will never forget.
What inspired your vision for your wedding? We wanted our wedding to be near the water but with a vintage classic, intimate feel with our own added touches.
What was your biggest planning challenge? Biggest planning challenge, if I had to pick one, would be the distance between Orlando and Sarasota. Having Alexis Alexander (with Sarasota Wedding Gallery) was what made it all happen and gave me comfort that our day would be amazing despite the distance.
Do you have a favorite design element? Our favorite design element of our wedding would have to be the intimate ceremony in the great room. The lighting was perfect, the mahogany Chivari chairs filling the room with our friends and family, our huge beautiful mirror from our home on the mantle reflecting the amazing scene. The ceremony was originally going to be outside, however rainy weather pushed us to a contingency plan that turned into our favorite and most memorable part of the day.
Describe your cake: We did not opt for traditional wedding cake. We had delicious cupcakes made and a small cake for Jon and I, which sat upon vintage cake stands.
How was your experience with your photographer? The experience with the photographers was the easiest part of the day. Sara and Jason made us feel very comfortable and like we had known them for years. They worked with my family, and the other vendors perfectly. They made the most of the rainy day coming up with creative ways to get amazing shots…with umbrellas, rain boots, splashing, and allowing us to shine through and have a great time.
What’s next for you as a married couple? Jon and I are looking forward to a lifetime of memories made hand in hand with family and friends, traveling, being on the water, and loving one another more and more everyday. As I tell Jon, I am the luckiest.

Interview with the beautiful bride,Jamie:
We Want To Know More…
HOW DID YOU MEET? We first met in high school and have been friends for going on 14 years now. Eventually we just realized that we were meant to be together and now I realize how lucky I am to be in love with my best friend.
WHAT ATTRACTED YOU THE MOST TO YOUR HUSBAND? His sense of humor. We have so much fun together no matter what we are doing!
HOW DID HE PROPOSE? Adam proposed to me in our kitchen at our home on Valentine’s Day last year. It was so perfect and private.
WHAT INSPIRED YOUR VISION FOR YOUR WEDDING? Vintage touches with a neutral color palette. I didn’t want to take anything away from the sunset, trees and the greenery of the park.
TELL US ABOUT FINDING YOUR VENUE: I have always loved Melbourne Beach and growing up there as a child. Adam and I envisioned our wedding being outdoors at sunset and Ryckman Park is one of the most gorgeous places in Brevard to watch it setting over the river.
WHAT WAS YOUR BIGGEST PLANNING CHALLENGE? Waiting a year from when we got engaged to have the wedding. Your taste and other things can change so much in a year!
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE DESIGN ELEMENT OF YOUR WEDDING? Our wedding planner did an amazing job of allowing the vision of my wedding day to come to life. I loved all of the unique centerpieces with the various assorted vintage vases and wooden flower boxes. I also loved the vintage wooden doors that were used for the ceremony.
DID YOU HAVE ANY DIY DETAILS? I made the vintage escort keys with tags and put together the vintage suitcase and card banner. I loved that it added a little personal touch to it and made it more unique.
WHAT WAS THE MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT OF YOUR WEDDING DAY? We danced to John Legend, All of Me for our last dance. Everyone at our wedding surrounded us on the dance floor while slowly waving glowsticks. We were both really in the moment.
DESCRIBE YOUR CAKE: Our cake was a square 3 tier with white buttercream frosting and filling. It was so light and airy and absolutely delicious.
HOW WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER? Sara + Jason are amazing. It felt like we were just spending time with our good friends and that allowed us to take comfortable and natural looking photos. They have some serious talent and everyone always asks me who did our photos!
WHAT’S NEXT FOR YOU AND YOUR HUSBAND AS A COUPLE? Rest, relaxation and enjoying being married!
